Pago de Tharsys Selección Bodega 2010 – Merlot & Cabernet Franc red wine
Pago de Tharsys Selección Bodega 2010 is a wine crafted with tradition and expertise, following meticulous winemaking methods from harvest to bottling. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, this Selección Bodega cuvée is the result of a rigorous organoleptic selection by our expert tasting committee, ensuring only the finest barrels are chosen. The limited production varies yearly, reflecting the exceptional quality of the selected barrels. Bottled without filtration to preserve its structure and aromatic depth, it may develop natural sediment, a hallmark of its authenticity.
Tasting Notes:
- Appearance: A clear, bright burgundy colour. Fine, abundant drops that glide slowly down the glass.
- Nose: Dominated by red berries, with notes of red plum, cedar, and damp forest aromas of leaves, humus, and soil, complemented by subtle hints of black pepper and clove.
- Mouth: Balanced structure and acidity with a fresh, lasting finish. Mature tannins enhance its roundness, complemented by flavors of cherries, humus, and spices.
Serving: Serve between 16ºC and 18ºC in round wineglasses, with a large surface for aeration. Goes perfectly with game stews and dishes based on mushrooms: wild red pine mushrooms, boletus mushrooms…
Organic Wine-growing: We follow organic farming practices, avoiding herbicides, chemical pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers. Using natural resources, we preserve biodiversity and maintain ecological balance. Guided by our motto, Observe and Respect, we harvest manually in 10 kg crates, ensuring only the finest bunches are selected for winemaking.
Vintage: 2010 started off very cold, with a heavy snowfall in the middle of January,
followed by some rainy months lasting through to the end of spring. It
was a generally rainy year (600 litres per square metre), way above the
annual average of 420 litres. Thanks to this, there was a considerable water
reserve in the soil, promoting growth during budding and development.
The Merlot and Cabernet harvests are at the end of September, when the
temperatures are lower, thus ensuring a perfect phenolic maturity of the
grapes.
